Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within the city.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.

Casimir then settled his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the group reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This means them few options but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to round up the Explorers and Planners groups.

Fans can anticipate finding out which characters will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
