The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update. Digital Channels Backlash Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration. The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services. They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance. Size Classification Modifications Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. User Experiences One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said. Necessary Adjustments Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing". "This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she said. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK. It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
